First off,
Well Done to Roughan O'Neill who came 3rd
over-all at the Kiltorcan (Kilkenny) Intervarsity.
Twenty Seven Drivers took part in a massive grand-prix,
everyone was out on the track at once and it was crazy.
One of the best Races I've taken part in so far.

Report:
The Event was the Grand-Prix, they managed to
get all 27 Karts out at once on the track, (very Formula 1!). We ran the warm-up
laps, the qualifying, and the actual race itself with out ever having to re-enter
the pits. They managed this by stopping everyone on the home-straight and aligning
them there and then for the next session. We did warm-up laps and qualifying
for around 10mins, and then the whole grand prix took place non-stop for just
under an hour.
The Karts are gas powered 270cc and are easily
faster than Kylemore, but Galway's Pallas Karting still have the fastest. All
the Karts were kept in perfect condition and were all evenly matched.
The Track itself was great, very twisty with lots
of turns to challenge the drivers, again the track is kept in perfect condition.
The Staff were very professional and accommodating,
even with our extra driver! So a big thanks to them. They managed to keep everything
organized with out losing their cool as can happen with such large groups at
Karting, everything went off with out a hitch and never seemed rushed. Definitely
the best I've experienced yet.
Over-All I think Kilkenny Track was the most professionally
run, with great Karts and a great Track. Considering how new the club is, that's
pretty impressive, hopefully it will keep up these high standards for a good
while yet, and it will see plenty of business.
As a result of our positive experience of this Track
we are thinking of organizing an outing down there before the year is out.
Well done again to Roughan for this top 3 placement at
the Intervarsity. Pictures and over all results will be posted as soon as they
are available.
Alan.
